Stay on Path
I work hard to stay on path
Trying to do what’s right
I have many decisions to make
I hope I choose right

Temptation
The temptation is always here
I want to drink it but still have the fear
It looks good and everyone is doing it
Fill up the cup just a little bit.
Its in the cup and looks so good
Their telling me to drink it but I don’t think I should
I won’t do it, I’ll stay on my path
how about instead we go take a bath.
I feel that I have an overall good understanding of the belly of the whale archetype. To me it means that when ever you hit rock bottom and you can’t go any farther down something inside of you helps you rise up and discover you can be a different person. This has happened in both Watership Down and The Odyssey. There are also many other stories and movies where this archetype is found.
In Watership Down the belly of the whale archetype is found when one of the rabbits (Bigwig) gets caught in a snare trap. The other rabbits tried to help the Bigwig but couldn’t find the peg to get him out. Finally they ended up finding the peg to release the snare and free the rabbit. Bigwig fell out of the trap and land without movement. The rabbits were very scared because they thought that he was dead, but all of a sudden Bigwig rose up and was fine.
In the Odyssey the example of the archetype would be when the solider were trying to get into the city of Troy but could not do it. They had no luck with this and they were at a stand still. They thought that all of them were going to be killed, but someone came up the the idea of the trojan horse that would end up saving them all. One of the poems that I thought represented this archetype would be “The End of the World”. This poem talks about how everything is fine and all of a sudden something bad happens and everything turns dark and it seems like there is nothing that will make it better.

Limen is something that is associated with a threshold. It also deals with what we have been talking about which is crossing the threshold. This means that on a persons journey they will encounter some sort of obstacle on their journey that they will have to overcome. In Watership Down and The Odyssey both have a threshold that the character will encounter.
In Watership Down one of the thresholds that the charcters have to encounter would be when some of the rabbits have to decide whether they wanted to leave the warren. This was a very big threshold for the rabbits to over come. They would be out in the wild all alone and have no idea of where they were going.
In the Odyssey an example of a threshold would be when Odysseus had to cross the sea. While he was crossing the sea there was a storm that Poseidon had sent. The threshold would be for Odysseus to make it through the storm and pass the obstacle. The storm ended up breaking his raft but still Odysseus managed to make it through the threshold.
When I was in 10th grade I had to get surgery on my shoulder. After surgery I started the journey to recover from the operation. It was very hard because i am right handed and the shoulder i had done was my right. I could not move it at all and could not even dress or feed myself. When my mom saw how much pain I was in she started to help me out as much as she could by making me food and doing pretty much everything that I needed done. With her doing all that stuff for me I never had to leave the couch and could stay in a position that I wasn’t in pain. She is my supernatural aid because without her I dont know how I would of ever been able to get through it.
In the Odyssey and Watership Down they both showed some sort of supernatural aid. Odysseus gets aid from Athena. She was always helping him out in anyway she could. Leucothea also helped Odysseus when his raft was destroyed. In Watership Down Fiver showed his supernatural aid when he had the feeling the some danger was near. Fiver then led some of the other rabbits to a safer place.
The poem I chose is Still Here by Langston Hughes. I chose this poem because it talks about being scarred and battered. Still no matter what it says i’m still here. So pretty much the point of the poem is that no matter what happens keep going and stay with it.

My phone is my aid
It’s always there when needed
always on my side.
The call is when the hero’s journey begins. “The hero becomes aware of the world outside his hometown or where he/she has lived for his entire life. His journey is usually given to him by a hearld who helps the hero by acting as a guide.” In Watership Down, the call would be when Fiver has the bad feeling about where they are living right now. Some of the rabbits then leave the warren. Their journey has now begun and they travel through the world outside the warren.
In my life I have had many times that I refused the call and not even looked back to change my mind. The one call that i did look back on was when i had the choice to go to college. At first I was not going and told everyone that it was my final decision but after I refused the call I ended up changing my mind and thought that going to college would be the best decision for me and i answered the call.
